Use case

The definition of the search component for the Illuminate platform aims to improve the user experience and access to information. By enhancing the search functionality, users will be able to find relevant data quickly and efficiently, resulting in increased productivity and satisfaction.

This initiative focuses on creating an intuitive, robust search capability that meets the diverse needs of all platform users.

Understanding the problem

The first step involved defining the components:

  • How the user will search and the criteria they will use.

  • Establish query logic and implement basic parameters.

  • Determine user expectations for results based on keywords.

  • Define the layout and design of the results page.

  • Outline user interaction with the resulting information.

Exploring and creating

At this stage, the technical definition of the component was completed in parallel with the development team to check the feasibility of the new component. This includes:Each status of the search bar.

  • Behavior when entering keywords.

  • Suggestions while typing.

  • Filters to interact with the results.

  • All options to filter and sort results.

  • Definitions of result items.

  • Character number restrictions.

  • Tags.

  • Visuals for large, medium, and small screens.

  • Accessibility annotations.
